France 1940

Completed

Game Master

August 2018 - February 2019

Let's first set the picture. After several years helping managing various Garry's Mod RP military servers I was sucked into the world of tabletops RPGS through an ambitious 30 players civilisation-like campaign.

Although it would eventually collapse under its own weight, the idea of making my own RPG started to bloom. Unknowingly I was about to go further on the path of Game Design.

As I was now familiar with Roll20 and was excited at the prospect of combining my passion for history with this new tool I set off and, using visuals assets from Heroes of Normandy, created in the last weeks of my 2018 summer my first Tabletop RPG.

Transition

First approached as a tactical it would eventually morph into a different form similar to D&D with individual soldiers played by players with improvements being made to accomodate this change. Features such more character building The plan was to steer the players in scenarios prepared whether it would be evacuating to Great Britain or remain in France as members of the resistance.

Hovewer due a lack of willing players and my own inexperience France 1940 would never see a campaign being completed. But some elements would come back in CUT OFF years later, going full circle.
